This wine has pronounced aromas of black cherries, plum, menthol and black olives, with secondary notes of chocolate, coffee and toast with varying degrees of tertiary notes depending on the vintage. In the mouth the wine is dry with good acidity and is full bodied. There are further notes of, black fruit, eucalyptus, green bell pepper, kirsch and oak characteristics. The finish is long. It can be drunk now or aged for nearly two decades, retaining fruit, acidity and structure with tertiary flavours such as fig, tobacco, mushrooms and gaminess.
